Dresses for a Cure and Next Generation Children Centers

Dresses for a Cure is a Nonprofit organization started in 2007 that collects gently worn dresses of all kinds and sizes.   These dresses are then sold for $20.00 each with all profits going to UMass Memorial Foundation's Walk to Cure Cancer Program.  This program helps to fund cancer research at UMass Medical which is home for many research scientists and doctors working to find a cure for all types of cancer.  One of these doctors is Dr. Craig Mello who received the Nobel Prize for his cancer cell discovery in 2006.

Next Generation Children Centers is joining Dresses for a Cure in the fight to cure cancer. Starting in February 2009, we will be holding sales at the NGCC Centers throughout the state. Not only can we work towards helping find a cure, we also can offer dresses at an affordable price. But we need your help! Starting in January of 2009, we will be holding a drive for dresses at each of NGCC's centers.  We accept any type of dress including bridesmaid, prom, cocktail, wedding, semi formal and casual.  Dresses may be either children sizes and/or junior and adult.  We are also looking for dress shoes, evening bags, shawls and other accessories.

The goal for each center is 100 dresses that will be collected and picked up as needed.  I know each center can surpass that goal and have a lot of fun doing so! Sales will be held as follows:

April 17, 2009, 6pm
Worcester Technical High School
1 Skyline Drive, Worcester, MA

We expect at least 3-5 volunteers from each sale center.  This is volunteer (unpaid) help which is vital to the sales.  Jobs may include cashier, dressing room attendants, helping girls pick out dresses as well as set up and break down.  If you are a high school student, Dresses for a Cure can provide a Community Service Letter for your school requirement.  Information will be provided at a meeting prior to the kick off of the Dresses for a Cure - Got a Dress drive.

Contact information: Tina Grindeland at the Sudbury center or at 617-792-5969.  Also, your center's Activity coordinators will have any information needed.

Advertisement:  Posters and handouts will be provided for each center.

I look forward to working with everyone to make the biggest difference ever and provide the next generation a cure for cancer!!
