Q: Approximately how many people walked in the 2007 Walk to Cure Cancer?
A. Approximately 14,000 people walked in the 2007 event.
Q. Where does the money I collect go?
A. Money collected for the Walk to Cure Cancer supports all types of cancer research at UMass Memorial Cancer Center.
Q. How long is the route?
A. The main route is approximately five miles and shorter alternative is one mile.
Q. How many water stops are on the course?
A. Four water stops are located around the five-mile course.
Q. Where are the restrooms?
A. There are various spots on site where port-o-johns are placed, some at the same location as the water stops.
Q. What about parking?
A. You will be directed where to park when you arrive on campus. There is one garage and two lots on the UMass campus. Once these lots are full you will be directed to park in the Biotech lots. If the Biotech lots get full then there will be parking available in the park off North Lake Avenue. We do suggest that your team car-pool, so that we can ensure everyone a place.
Q. What about food?
A. After walkers return from the course they can pick up light snacks at the Food Tent. We provide no refreshments before or during the Walk, besides the water at the water stops along the route.
Q. Where do I register?
A. The Registration Tent is where you can register to walk and hand in money you have raised. Please try to total the money you have raised and clearly list each contributors name and address.
